Award 2007 Guideline
World Summit Award Categories
The
WSA eight
categories reflect how important e-inclusion of
the
developing countries into the Information Society
is.
Sectors like health, politics, science, education,
business as well as entertainment are the main
social
issues of daily human life in which people not
only have
the right and the opportunity to communicate but
also
should have access to use the best applications to
further
increase knowledge and progress in their
respective
countries.
e-learning
Serving the needs of learners to acquire knowledge
and
skills for a complex and globalizing world;
transforming
schools, universities and other educational
institutions
through interactive, personalized and distributed
learning
resources; creating active e-learning communities
and
target models and solutions for corporate
training,
supporting first steps in multimedia.
e-culture
Preserving and presenting cultural heritage in
line with
the challenges of the future; demonstrating
valuable
cultural assets clearly and informatively
using
state-of-the-art technology.
e-inclusion
All measures supporting IT integration of the
least
developed countries into the Information Society.
Reducing
the "digital divide" between technology-empowered
and
technology-excluded communities and groups - such
as rural
areas and women. Bridging society through
multimedia.
e-business
Support and optimization of business processes;
creation
of new business models in e-commerce and
m-commerce,
business to business, business to consumers,
internet
security and other areas; supporting SMEs on the
marketplace.
e-health
Developing the consumer-centered model of health
care
where stakeholders collaborate, utilizing ICT,
including
internet technologies to manage health issues as
well as
the health care system.
e-science
Fostering global collaboration in key areas of
science,
and the next generation of infrastructure that
will enable
it; providing measures to promote and demonstrate
scientific processes and make them accessible to
citizens;
scientific projects articulated through new media.
e-entertainment
Supplying digitized entertainment products and
services;
entertaining the user in this world's variety of
languages
and its cultural diversity; supporting movement
from
one-way to two-way, from single to multiple
player,
interactive entertainment and the synergy between
analog
and digital platforms.
e-government
Empowering citizens and serving public services
clients;
fostering quality and efficiency of information
exchange
and communication services in governmental and
public
administrative processes; strengthening
participation of
citizens in information society decision making.

General
rules & procedure
- The e-Content Award
is open to any company, organisation and
individual
active in the content industry and based in
Bangladesh. The presented e-product must be
produced
mainly by an Bangladesh individual or company,
which
must reflect our local morals and traditions
without
any advocacy for racism, nudity, or any
indecent
content.
- The only way to take
part in the WSA is to win the e-Content Award
2005,
the national WSA pre-selection contest for
Bangladesh.
- There is, basically,
no limitation regarding the platforms or
channels the
projects work with. (It could be
CD/VCD/DVD/Web/Mobile
content etc.)
- All submitted items
have to be complete products or applications
and
include instructions for installation and use.
No
drafts, demonstrations or unfinished
prototypes are
accepted. Submitters are held responsible for
the
smooth functioning of their products /
applications
and must provide the appropriate electronic
access to
his/her submitted e-product for evaluation
purposes by
the national jury board.
- The same product
cannot be submitted twice (i.e. submitted
again).
- The producer must
own the copyright of all pictures, sounds,
contents
etc. related to the production of his project.
- The interface of the
products must be any of the United Nations
official
languages (i.e. English, French, German, etc)
and
could be Bengali too. All producer and project
information (i.e. forms and uploaded files)
must in
English
- A product can only
be submitted for one category. In case of
multiple
submissions by the same organisation, company
or team,
each product requires a separate registration.
- None of the
materials submitted will be returned. One
copy/version
of each product submitted will be kept in the
e-Content Award 2005 archive. No commercial
use of
this archive will be made. In no event shall
the organisers be liable for possible loss, illegal uses
or incidental damages to products.
- Incomplete
submissions and those not following the
e-Content
Award 2005 guidelines will be withdrawn from
the
e-Content Award 2005 selection process without
notice.
There is no way of challenging such a decision
legally.
- When submitting a
project to the e-Content Award 2005 Experts
(and later
WSA experts), participants automatically agree
to the
guidelines set out by the e-Content Award 2007
and WSA
2007 guidelines.
- Submitting a product
to the evaluation and selection process does
by no
means entitle a producer to any benefits.
There is no
way of challenging this decision legally.
- All products to take
part in the e-Content Award 2005 selection
process
(except on-line webs) must be sent by mail by
the
producers / authors to the reference address
and
arrive no later the submission deadline. The
e-Content
Award 2005 Office does neither pay for any
mailing or
transport costs nor for customs duty. All
products
must be mailed at the cost of the sender.
- For each
registration a payment of BD Tk. 1000.00 (One
Thousand
Only) have to paid in cash at the time of
submission.
This is non-refundable cost for product
registration.
- Every qualified
participants will get The E-Content Award 2007
certificate and invitation to the National WSA
Event
which will announce on due time.

- Quality and
comprehensiveness of content
- Ease of use:
functionality, navigation and orientation
(Usability)
- Value added through
interactivity and multimedia
- Attractiveness of
design (aesthetic value of graphics/audio)
- Quality of
craftsmanship (technical realisation)
- Strategic importance
for the global development of the Information
Society
- Multilinguism /
Cultural Model
- Accessibility
- Sustainability /
market model
All
e-products will be
evaluated according to criteria which are tied
to the
concept of value added for users and e-contents
for a
purpose. Specific criteria developed for the
evaluators
cannot over-ride any generic information
disseminated.
The final decision on the clarification of the
criteria
to be used is to be done by the jury board.
